A fellowship of Christian creatives inspired by C.S. Lewis and the Oxford Inklings. We cultivate literature and visual arts that reveal truth and beauty.
"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'" ~ C.S. Lewis
In the 1930s and 40s, a group of friends gathered in the back room of an Oxford pub called the Eagle and Child. Among them were C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Charles Williams... writers who would change the landscape of literature forever.
They called themselves the Inklings... a playful pun meaning both "people with half-formed ideas" and "those who dabble in ink."
AmericanInklings carries this torch into the 21st century, bringing together Christian creatives across literature and visual arts to encourage one another, sharpen our craft, and create works that reveal the deeper truths of existence.
